Job opportunity: Clerk to the Westminster Commission on Miscarriages of Justice

Salary: £24,000 FTE plus pension contribution

Hours: 16 hours per week

Location: London

Contract: Fixed term for 6 months

Reports to:  Managing Director of Centre for Criminal Appeals (CCA)

The Centre for Criminal Appeals are excited to be able to offer the opportunity for someone to join our team in a unique role which will provide you with experience of working for an innovative criminal justice charity whilst playing a significant role in an important Westminster inquiry examining the criminal justice system and its ability to tackle miscarriages of justice.

CCA provide the secretariat to the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Miscarriages of Justice (APPGMJ).

The APPGMJ has now established the Westminster Commission on Miscarriages of Justice (WCMJ), Co-Chaired by two members of the APPGMJ, Baroness Stern CBE and former Solicitor General Lord Garnier QC, to undertake an inquiry into the criminal justice system and its ability to tackle miscarriages of justice.  They will be assisted in conducting this inquiry assisted by a number of experienced and knowledgeable Commissioners.

We are advertising for someone to join us in a part time role as the Clerk to the Commission.

The Clerk to the Commission will play an integral role in the running of the WCMJ inquiry, which is to begin its work in July 2019 receiving both written and oral evidence before producing a report to be published later this year.
